"The only thing standing between you and your goal is the story you keep telling yourself."

— Jordan Belfort

Limiting belief can stop on dead in there tracks, from achieving there fullest potential. But why?

I know I can achieve more in my life, but everyday I wake up nothing seems to be shifting in my life - I feel limited.

Hence the power of limiting beliefs.

Stop and take a moment to think about this:

What are your current results in life?

This includes both the things you have and the things you don’t.

Consider everything—from the confidence you carry (or lack), the relationships you’re in (or not in), the wealth you have (or are striving for), to the life you’re living (or hoping to live). Really pause and reflect: What do I have in my life right now, and what do I feel is missing?

What you see right now is a reflection of the meanings you’ve been assigning to things in your life. If you feel stuck in any of these areas, ask yourself: What meaning have I been giving to these situations in my life?

  • "I have been hurt in the past." “What did I learn from this? How did I grow? How has it made me stronger or wiser?”

  • "They really hurt me."“What if that’s just their view of the world? I choose to see my world in a new light that empowers me.”

  • "My financial situation will never change." “It never did in the past, but today is an opportunity to make better choices and work toward my financial goals.”

  • "I will always be unhappy." “My unhappiness is a sign that I need to make a shift, as happiness is my birthright.”

Now, see, everything we have or don’t have in life is a reflection of how we’ve been thinking about it. What if we learned to reframe our current meanings in a way that empowers us instead of disempowering us? You’d be amazed at how powerful this shift in perspective can be.

How to Reframe Memories

Empowering Meanings vs. Disempowering Meanings

The meaning you give anything in life creates a feeling, and that feeling drives your actions—or lack thereof.

As John Assaraf wisely said, “The meaning you give anything creates your outcome.” Think about this: The last time you gave something a disempowering meaning instead of an empowering one, was it moving you toward the result you desire in life or further away from it?

When you choose to give a disempowering meaning, you’re essentially closing the door to possibilities. You tell yourself it’s over, that there’s no way out, and you begin to believe the story you’re telling yourself. And what you believe becomes your reality: “I can’t because…”

But what happens when you flip the switch? When you choose to give an empowering meaning to the exact same situation, you begin to see opportunities instead of lack. You may not have all the answers right now, but you start to believe they exist. You open your mind to solutions, growth, and possibility.

When you reframe a challenge as a stepping stone, something you can learn from, your energy changes. You start saying, “I can because…”

You go from living life as a victim to becoming victorious. You take back your power because now you believe you can create a different outcome. The power doesn’t lie in the situation itself—it’s in how you see it, the lens through which you view the world and everything within and around you.

No matter what has happened or is happening in your life, you have the power to choose whether you give things an empowering meaning or a disempowering meaning. What will you choose?

Reframing Your Meanings

If you’re ready to change your meanings so you can shift your feelings and, in turn, achieve more of the results you desire, here are three simple steps. Practiced daily, they can help you move from disempowering meanings to empowering ones.

Step 1: Catch It and Flip It

Start by noticing the disempowering thoughts that sneak into your mind. They often run on autopilot, but you have the power to flip them. The key is to catch them and ask yourself, “Is this really true?” Most of the time, it’s not. It’s simply a story you’ve been telling yourself for far too long.

Once you spot them, don’t just accept them. Ask yourself, What’s another way to see this? By asking yourself how you might shift your perspective, you open up a world of possibilities. You stop accepting the limitations you’ve been living with and start seeing the potential for something better.

Step 2: Replace with Empowering Affirmations

Once you’ve caught those limiting thoughts, it’s time to flip the script. What would an empowering belief sound like? If you’ve been telling yourself, “I’m just not good enough,” challenge it with, “I am more than capable and deserving of all the success I desire.”

But don’t just say it once. You’ve got to remind yourself daily. Repeat these affirmations often, especially when doubt tries to creep back in. The more you do this, the more those new, empowering thoughts become your default.

Step 3: The Power of Gratitude

What’s the quickest way to flip the switch when you can’t see a positive frame for what is or what has been? Try making a shift with the power of gratitude. As they say, “The more you’re grateful for, the more you find in life to be grateful for.”When was the last time you were truly grateful for the things you do have in your life?

When you place your energy and attention on gratitude, you start to shift your entire outlook. As the saying goes, “What you focus on expands.” So, what will you choose to focus on? Make a shift in your meaning by being grateful.

Finally, remember this: When you shift the meaning you give to things, you gain the ability to change your feelings, which in turn shifts your actions—the very actions that lead to the results you either have or don’t have in your life.

Applying These Techniques:

Let’s take a closer look at applying these techniques. If a disempowering thought arises like, “I’ll never be good at this,” catch it and flip it. Remind yourself that this is just a thought, not a truth. Then, shift it to, “I’m still learning, and with practice, I’ll improve.” Repeat this empowering affirmation often to reinforce your belief in your own ability.

When faced with difficult circumstances or self-doubt, gratitude can be a game-changer. Instead of focusing on what’s lacking, direct your mind toward what’s going well. This doesn’t mean ignoring challenges—it means approaching them from a place of abundance and strength rather than scarcity and weakness.

These tools—flipping disempowering thoughts, using affirmations, and practicing gratitude—are powerful in helping you reframe how you interpret the world around you. With consistent practice, they can become second nature, shifting your default mindset to one that’s primed for growth, resilience, and success.

And remember, I was once someone who struggled with shifting these meanings, and that’s why I’m sharing these powerful techniques with you. They can absolutely work for you if you practice them a little bit each day.

Yes, You Can Change Your Results

It may take time, but yes, you can change your results. I know this from the bottom of my heart, and I’m here to tell you: Yes, you can. No matter what.

Every day is a new opportunity to refine your narrative and choose empowering meanings. When you reframe your challenges, you’re not just changing your perspective—you’re changing your reality. You’re turning roadblocks into opportunities, setbacks into comebacks, and self-doubt into self-belief.

This process is all about showing up for yourself, taking each step with intention, and reminding yourself that you hold the power to direct your path. Remember, the way you choose to see the world, the meanings you give, shape the course of your life. Choose meanings that uplift and energize you. Choose meanings that expand your view of what’s possible.

Now is your time to shift your meanings so that you can start living a life of greater results and fulfillment. Every empowering choice you make, every reframed thought, is a step forward on this journey.

So, take a deep breath, and make today the day you begin to create a new story for yourself. One that’s filled with potential, growth, and all the success you envision.
